Spookadilly Halloween, Genting Highlands: More Than Entertainment
Get ready for some spooky Halloween fun at Resorts World Genting’s SkyAvenue, with the launch of the new SkySymphony computer animated show Spookadilly. The show takes visitors on a wild musical ride through Genting’s Midnight Manor, guided by an original character named Bonediddy, a singing skeleton. Spookadilly also features other spine-tingling characters including dancing mummies, twirling ghosts and serenading skulls.
The show is the latest in a series of animated features that have been delighting visitors to SkyAvenue each time they are projected on the several giant LED screens surrounding the stage, resulting in a unique sound-and-light show when paired with the choreography of its 1,001 kinetic winch ball system. These include the recent shows Jungle Jam, Ocean Groove with Maestro Ning, Moon Dance, Urban Symphony and The Goddess.
What many people may not realise is that each of these shows is produced in-house by Genting Studios.
The studio was founded in 2018 with the aim of creating original characters and concepts to deliver cutting-edge computer graphics content to guests of Resorts World Genting. Present at the launch of Spookadilly were Genting Studios head Daniel Regis Brown, Genting Studios executive producer Steven Lim and writer-director Guy Vasilovich.
Brown said: “We at Genting Studios are thrilled to be given the opportunity to push the envelope for digital content at Resorts World Genting and the Genting Group as a whole.”
Spookadilly Halloween, Genting Highlands Malaysia : Long-term plans
Bonediddy is a new character that Genting Studios has included in a growing roster of in-house iconic characters or intellectual properties (IP), and will play a recurring role as the studio continues expanding into an entertainment powerhouse.
According to Brown, Bonediddy and other original characters created by the studio will be featured in the resort’s theme parks and as part of “added experiences” for guests.
This includes guests being able to interact with these characters as mascots around Skytropolis, and purchase related merchandise.
“These ideas become more than just a show on screen,” Brown explained. “For instance, Bonediddy from Spookadilly and Tabby the Tiger from Jungle Jam [will be] like Disney’s Mickey Mouse or Warner Bros’ Bugs Bunny.”
“In the past, we would bring [mascots] in from outside, and we would have to pay companies from Hollywood to license [them]. But now that we own our IPs, we can sell [merchandise] when and how we want to”.
The SkySymphony shows are played daily from 10am to midnight, on a half hourly interval. Running alongside Spookadilly is the Halloween Parade, which takes place at 3pm and 5pm on Thursdays and Sundays until Oct 27, and the Dance Show featuring the Skytropolis Show Squad from Thursdays to Sundays until Oct 31.
