The Tanjung Gemok Ferry Terminal is the gateway to Tioman Island. Built in 1994, the terminal has a total area of 25 acres.
Facilities include seven ticketing and baggage counters, an information center, a customs office, a fisheries department office, a marine department office, restaurants as well as a fenced car park for about 100 vehicles. A mere 15 kilometers away from the town of Kuala Rompin is Lanjut Beach, one of the most beautiful unspoilt beaches along the southern coast of the state. There are many water sport activities like scuba diving, but golfers usually head to the Lanjut Golden and Beach and Golf Resort. Apart from golf, visitors can try their hand at wood ball, a newly introduced game that is similar to golf but using a wooden mallet instead of iron, wood and putter.

Freshwater Prawns - Udang Galah
Rompin is famous for its yummy prawn dishes. If you are a seafood lover, you should probably visit in the best time : September – October. These fresh prawns are caught from the Rompin river, Nenasi River, Endau and Anak Endau River.
There is a restaurant called Restoran Leban Condong in Kampung Leban Condong that specializes in fresh, ready-to-cook giant prawns. There is also a famous restaurant for giant prawn lovers in Menchali Forest Reserve.
Other than prawns, Rompin is also a place where you can find clams or kepah. You can join the locals to collect clams when the water level in the river is shallow and the sandy islands on the rivers are easy to reach.
The Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge
The Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge is an annual off-shore fishing competition under the auspices of the Pahang State Government. It is jointly organized by Tioman Development Authority and the Pahang office of Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Angling Association.
The competition is only for catches of sailfish and marlins and contestants are guided by the rules of conduct based on international standards set by the Billfish Foundation and The International Game Fish Association. Catch and Release is compulsory whereby after capture the fish is unhooked photographed and returned to the sea before experiencing exhaustion or injury.
The event is held at Lanjut, Kuala Rompin about 125 kilometer south of Kuantan in the State of Pahang. It is aimed at showcasing the area as the “Billfish Capital of Asia’’ where sailfish and marlins would spend much of their time cruising the seas off Kuala Rompin during their active migration season in the months of March through September each year.
The billfish at Kuala Rompin are not big in size but you can’t deny its beauty, incredible fighting spirit, breath-taking high leaps, somersaults and tail dances that forces your fishing line to go off or arching at unbelievable speeds that make your andrenalin rush to unprecedented levels. Thus, the event is set to excite all level of anglers over two action-packed days of spectacular game fishing.
