History & Development
Origins & Site Selection
Originally proposed by Tengku Abd. Aziz Tengku Hamzah (Tengku Sri Utama Raja), who served as President of MAIK, the mosque was built to complement—not replace—Masjid D’Raja Long Yunus in Langgar. The chosen site was the former Agriculture Department office on Jalan Telipot, covering ~1.5 acres after initial expansion guided by the late Dato’ Haji Ishak Lotfi bin Omar, the then Chief Minister.
Cost & Architectural Vision
- Initial Budget: RM350,000
- Final Cost: RM400,000
- Land Value: Excluded from budget
- Original Design: By Kelantanese architect Ghazali bin Salleh (Pakatan Arkitek)
- Due to cost constraints, the original design—estimated at RM750,000—was modified by JKR and brought to life within budget.
The unique design was later reused for Masjid Kampung Sireh, solidifying its architectural legacy in Kelantan.
