The Wooden Origins

  • Originally built using timber from a collapsed mosque in Kampung Sungai Budor
  • Relocated to its current site in 1867 under Sultan Muhammad II
  • Nicknamed “Masjid Buruk” due to its rustic wooden structure

Transition to Concrete

  • Reconstruction approved by Sultan Muhammad IV in 1922
  • Foundation stone laid on 21 August 1922
  • Officially renamed “Masjid Muhammadi” on 31 July 1931 by Sultan Ismail
