Historical Highlights

A Fortress of Resistance

Built during the reign of Sultan Ibrahim (1778–1826), Bukit Malawati was a stronghold against Dutch colonization. In 1784, the Dutch seized it and renamed it Fort Altingburg. But just a year later, Sultan Ibrahim reclaimed it in a daring night assault with help from Pahang warriors.

Royal Capital of Selangor

Before Jugra and Klang, Kuala Selangor was the royal seat. Raja Lumu, a Bugis prince, was crowned the first Sultan of Selangor here in the 18th century. The hill remained a political and spiritual center for decades.
