About Us

A Vision Anchored in Science & Spirituality

Since opening in 1993, Planetarium Negara has served as Malaysia’s hub for informal education in astronomy and space science. Spanning 14 acres, this celestial institution was envisioned not just to teach but to inspire—combining scientific innovation with a design inspired by Islamic golden-age achievements in astronomy.

Historical Milestones

  • 1989: Established under the Prime Minister’s Department
  • 1990–1993: Construction of the complex
  • 7 February 1994: Officially launched by Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
