Sri Pahang FA: The Pride of Pahang Football

    Sri Pahang FA

Founded in 1959, Sri Pahang FA has become one of Malaysia’s most iconic football clubs, representing the state of Pahang with unmatched pride. From historic victories to legendary players, the club’s journey reflects the spirit of Malaysian football and continues to inspire fans across generations.

    Introduction

Sri Pahang Football Association, now known as Sri Pahang FC, is more than just a football club—it is a cultural institution in Malaysia. Established in 1959, the team has played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s football identity. With its home at Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan, the club has witnessed decades of triumphs, challenges, and unforgettable moments. Fans affectionately call them Tok Gajah (The Elephants), symbolizing strength and resilience.

    History

Sri Pahang FA was founded under the patronage of Sultan Abu Bakar in 1959, initially competing in regional tournaments. The construction of Darul Makmur Stadium in 1973 marked a turning point, giving the club a permanent home. Their first major triumph came in 1983, when they won the Malaysia Cup, breaking the dominance of Selangor FA and Singapore FA.

The 1990s golden era saw the rise of the “Dream Team,” featuring stars like Dollah Salleh, Zainal Abidin Hassan, Khairul Azman Mohamed, Alan Davidson, and Fandi Ahmad. In 1992, the club achieved a historic double—winning both the Malaysia Cup and the league title. Later, in 2004, Sri Pahang became the inaugural champions of the Malaysia Super League, cementing their legacy.

The Malaysia Cup (Malay: Piala Malaysia) is an annual football tournament in Malaysia, first held in 1921 as the Malaya Cup after the donation of a trophy by the British Royal Navy ship HMS Malaya. It is the oldest and most prestigious domestic cup competition in the country, traditionally contested by the top teams from the Malaysia Super League and Malaysia Premier League. Despite its historic importance, winning the Malaysia Cup does not guarantee qualification for continental competitions, which is reserved for the Malaysia FA Cup winners.

He began his career with Pahang’s youth squad in 1985 and quickly rose to prominence as one of the best goalkeepers in Asia during the 1990s. Khairul helped Pahang win the 1992 Malaysia Cup and later achieved success with Sabah, winning the 1995 FA Cup and the 1996 Malaysian League title. He earned over 40 caps for Malaysia between 1991 and 1997, including appearances in the 1993 Merdeka Tournament and the 1996 Tiger Cup, where Malaysia finished runners-up. After retiring in 2005 due to injury, he transitioned into coaching, serving as a goalkeeper coach for several Malaysian clubs.

    Fandi Ahmad

Fandi Ahmad (born 29 May 1962 in Singapore) is a Singaporean former professional footballer and current coach, widely regarded as one of the nation’s greatest sporting legends. Primarily a striker, though occasionally playing as a midfielder, he represented Singapore FA and also played for Malaysia Cup sides Kuala Lumpur FA and Pahang FA, winning multiple titles including doubles in 1992 and 1994. Internationally, he earned 101 caps and scored 55 goals for Singapore between 1979 and 1997, captaining the national team in the 1990s.

Fandi was the first Singaporean footballer to play in Europe, joining FC Groningen in the Netherlands from 1983 to 1985, where he scored in the UEFA Cup against Inter Milan. He also played for clubs in Indonesia and Greece, and later managed teams such as SAFFC, Pelita Jaya, Johor Darul Ta’zim, LionsXII, and Young Lions. His legacy extends through his children, several of whom are professional footballers, continuing the family’s football tradition.

    Alan Edward Davidson

Alan Edward Davidson (born 1 June 1960 in Altona North, Melbourne, Australia) is a former Australian professional footballer who played primarily as a defender and midfielder. He represented the Australia national team, earning over 50 caps, and was known for his strong tackling and leadership. Davidson had a distinguished domestic career with South Melbourne and Melbourne Croatia, and also played briefly for Nottingham Forest in England.

In 1992, he joined Pahang FA in Malaysia, where he became the first foreign player to be acclaimed as the best player in the Malaysian League, helping the club win both the league and Malaysia Cup. Davidson continued playing in Malaysia until 1996, becoming a fan favorite and receiving recognition from the Sultan of Pahang. He later returned to Australia, where he was inducted into the Football Australia Hall of Fame in 2001.

    Zulhamizan Zakaria

Zulhamizan Zakaria (born 1969 in Pahang, Malaysia) is a former Malaysian footballer, best remembered as the left winger who scored the winning goal in the 1992 Malaysia Cup final for Pahang FA against Kedah. His strike in the second minute of the match secured Pahang’s historic double that year, as the team also won the league, the Sumbangsih Cup, and the Fair Play Cup. Zulhamizan was part of Pahang’s famous “Dream Team” alongside Dollah Salleh, Zainal Abidin Hassan, Fandi Ahmad, Alan Davidson, Khairul Azman Mohamed, and Abdul Mubin Mokhtar.

He later represented Malaysia internationally, including winning the Indonesian Independence Cup in 1992. Despite a promising career, his playing days were cut short by a persistent meniscus injury, forcing him to retire in the late 1990s. Today, he remains a respected figure in Malaysian football history.

Mubin later won another Malaysia Cup in 1996 with Selangor FA, further cementing his reputation as a versatile and impactful player.

On the international stage, he earned 11 caps and scored 5 goals for Malaysia between 1992 and 1993, appearing in World Cup qualifiers and the SEA Games. Whether you seek relaxation, adventure, or cultural experiences, this exclusive resort delivers an unforgettable vacation experience.

    Introduction

Berjaya Hills in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, is one of Malaysia’s most distinctive highland resorts. Rising nearly 3,500 feet above sea level, the area enjoys cool temperatures year‑round, making it a refreshing escape from the tropical heat of Kuala Lumpur. The resort is renowned for its unique blend of European charm and Asian tranquility, offering visitors a chance to stroll cobblestone streets, sip tea in a Japanese garden, or soar across the forest canopy on Southeast Asia’s longest flying fox zipline.
